Our History

In 1983 Sergeant Consulting Associates, Inc. (SCA) was started with a vision to leverage technology to make the interaction with databases more efficient. Seizing on emerging, new technologies, SCA saw the opportunity to redefine the way market research data could be processed and presented. This first effort focused on the IMS/Midas database and became the first “download” of information from this source in the form of well-formatted paper-based reports.

By 1986, capitalizing on the breakthrough PC-based technology, SCA had forged ahead with the first “Executive Information Retrieval System”. Based on DOS, the system allowed users to access data, run enquiries and generate tables and graphs. SCA created a solution to “download” information from a global database, generating unparalleled market analysis for the pharmaceutical industry. Complete data sources were distributed using 5¼” and later 3½” diskettes.

In 1991, the second generation of SCA’s flagship software was launched, capitalizing on the general adoption of Microsoft’s Windows operating system. Called WinEI (Windows’ Executive Information), the software leveraged the graphical interface and networking capabilities of this new platform. WinEl offered unique flexibility and faster access to high-value information. Data sources were disseminated via another breakthrough media: Compact Disks.

With the advent of the Internet as a business tool, SCA seized the opportunity to expand into this new medium, offering for the first time, a solution with global reach to analyze Market Research information. SCA’s EINet Infrastructure came to life in 2002. It leveraged the automatic delivery of information through a Web-based environment. This combination allowed customers to securely and reliably push the support and management of its data sources to SCA’s infrastructure while allowing the development of custom, more powerful solutions.

Nowadays, with the current use of multiple databases and disparate delivery system, technologies and formats coming from all around the world, SCA once again has been faithful to its 1983 origins. The results leverage 25 years of Industry-wide insight and expertise embodied in the EINetAnalyst, SCA’s Universal Database Manager. Featuring the standardization of front-end and back-end systems, savings on development, support and training and with powerful analysis and dashboards technology, the EINetAnalyst currently empowers market research and business intelligence organizations in 53 countries worldwide.
